Before I share my own views about 3K06. I have to talk about 3K/4K 94/95. This is us. As "oh biang" as can be. Last time policemen wore shorts, and girls had short hair.
My class was never united - in the way all of you express unity to be. We were, like you, clusters of 2G, 2H, 2J students, conglomerated into an entity called 3K. It was arbitrary. It was uncomfortable. It took us some time to accept one another. But eventually we did.
I will forever cherish my time in this class. Not because we won any awards, not because we were fanatically united as a class, but for one reason alone = my best relationships in my life were forged in 3K and 4K. This was us then.
Relationships are not about the good times alone. Relationships are forged in fire. We fought, yelled at, and at times hated each other. But like the forges of a blacksmith, the product were friends that until today I hold dear to. It is one thing to have friends to talk to, but another that can read you like an open book. Three of us are particularly close, and although we ended up in different JCs, we still, very openly regarded each other as closest. We stay close until today.
I don't know how to describe a close friendship. It's the type that knows what's on your mind without asking. It's the type that can read your body language, no matter how minute. Of course, 3K94 still meets up until today. It's a bond the continues to grow.
So what am I saying? I am not saying that my past was grand and nice. Neither am I saying that I hope that 3K06 MUST be something grand and nice. All I'm saying is this:
Build relationships.
I don't care about awards. About the class winning anything. The greatest things in life are not prizes, or material. They are people.

arloeeee iiikians... eh cuz the font is a picture so i dunno how to change the colour.. so i only could change it to white... ya so the design will be like that? then colour will be decided on monday can? currently the highest vote is like that: white for the kaleidoscope, then orange for logo, then white for the generation and limegreen for the caption... eh so ppl jux tag at the tagboard if u wanna the generation... cuz it is sort of weird huh.. cuz it looks like we are frm a 'g' class... ya .. no offence to those who want it..~binz((:

The Blog Awards II
Some pretty amazing entries from Everyone (except ahem ahems). I was thinking of awarding everyone. But that would mean me not having a life. So here goes.

Evelyn's si-mplistic. Almost every entry has something to do with the music she loves. Way to go. (but the 3 entries I must have okay? - I need to grade you to be fair).

AnnGi's dreammiestarx. I always respect people who speak their minds. Even if doing so means being policitally incorrect. I do that all the time in the boardroom. Better to get it off your chest now, than blow up later under all that pressure and resentment.
The Most Kawaii Award
Shirley's animefan-ny. The blog addy says it all! Super Cutesy. When teachers see Shirley in her 2k'05 picture, they all say... "so cute". Just like her blog.

I went back and did a quick search on dictionary.com - I think kaleidoscope is a really fantastic word for us(I really did say it by chance). It is mostly made up of Greek words. Simply wonderful.

I just got news from the doc. that I must rest. My cough is highly contagious apparently. You can use the time (you can ask your relief teacher for time), to settle the shirt stuff. Thanks to those who are spearheading this. It's a tough job.

I'm currently searching for a free host which can support rbs + php format and doesn't need to upload through FTP. So just bear with it for a longer bc most free hosting doesnt support both x:.

Download radioblog and unzip it. The instructions on how to convert the song file into *rbs format should be in there.

Then download ftp, either version should be fine {i think x:}.
After installing FTP open it and you should see the bar with login, pw etc.

Journal #3 Entry - The reasons why iiikay rocks, rules, or doesn't rock, doesn't rule. What makes us tick. Or why we don't tick. What makes our class a nice place to identify with. Or what you can't stand about the class.
Basically, give feedback on the past 6 weeks of being together. Do you love it or hate it? Or something of both?

I have been trying like a nutcase to get our own version of a radio.blog. Inspiration from none other but Joel.
Realised radio.blog is an excellent way to hear some real "unknown" and truly "alternative" music. Like the Gattaca theme song and some real heartland Hokkien songs - oh I love those.
I have already got a free subscription to some web server - iiikay.50megs.com, only to find out they don't support some XMS thing. Arrgh.
Anyone's got any ideas/bright bulbs over your head/flashes of inspiration? Let me know.

I must confess that the show "Gattaca" puts me in a quandry.
On one hand I see the tremondous potential the application of DNA has on medicine - it will without a shadow of doubt be the forefront of bio-medical science, and will bring unprecedented cures, treatments and preventive medicines to humanity.
On the other hand I think I understand human nature well enough to know that some will misuse this knowledge we have acquired. Discrimination has been part and parcel of humanity since the earliest annals of history - I cannot delude myself and say humanity will change. DNA will definitely lead to a new form of discrimination - one, as Vincent puts across succintly, one that will be based on your genes. DNA testing of potential employees has already begun on a small scale in the U.S.
Yet, I think that this a tide that all of us will have to ride. We cannot and should not ban genetic engineering absolutely because in it holds the physical salvation of many in the near future. In Singapore, we have a cancer rate of 1 in 3. Think about it. Look at the 2 friends sitting next to you. Statistically, ONE of them will develop cancer of some sort. For me - 12 of you will develop cancer. How can I be so selfish as to deny 12 of you the chance of a healthy life? How can I deny you that just because I have some misgivings about how society will change with this tide? Do we ban money because it corrupts some? Do we ban the use of a knife if someone uses it to kill?
In the midst of this quandry I believe there IS something positive we can do about it. Many of you will be involved in the life-sciences in the near future. Some of you may become lawyers and be invovled in the passing of laws for GE. Some of you may becomegovernment people who write policies with regards to GE. When you are in these positions. Just do me a favour and think about Vincent. That's what we can do.
